Reinsurance Broker / Client Advisor


Guy Carpenter, part of Marsh & McLennan Companies, is one of the world’s largest reinsurance intermediaries with more than 2 000 employees world-wide and clients in more than 100 countries.
The Nordic team consists of brokers, actuaries, catastrophe-modelers and service functions that provide insurance companies with full service reinsurance solutions and tailored products.
Our clients are insurance companies mainly in the Nordic countries, from the largest pan-Nordic insurance companies to small local mutual companies.
A reinsurance broker position at Guy Carpenter & Company AB offers a variation of international and local contacts, a balance between analytical and social skills all together in a strong local team supported by centralized specialist functions.


SUMMARY OF ROLE

In this role as a Reinsurance Broker you will act as an advocate for your client, within the reinsurance market to execute the most effective reinsurance placement possible.

You will need to have a genuine interest in building your knowledge about each individual client – their challenges and ambitions.

To be successful you will need to be proactive in building relationships with all various stakeholders in the transaction:

• The client is a priority and relationship management will encompass various levels within the organisation from the reinsurance department to the management level in order to build trust and confidence in your advisory role.

• Relationship building within Guy Carpenter will be important to ensure that you are engaging the right resources that will be at your disposal within a global company that has actuarial, modelling, financial and marketing capabilities. You will have the opportunity to work across different cultures and geographies and disciplines.

• Relationships within the reinsurance market with reinsurance underwriters to understand their perspectives and underwriting approaches and how you can best represent your client with these in mind.


EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

A university qualification is required for this role.

A background in insurance or reinsurance is relevant but not required.

Potential candidates should be able to illustrate experience in all or some of the roles below:

• Team building
• Logical approach to problem solving and solution creation
• Transaction creation and execution : deal making
• Advisory or consultative roles
• Successful relationship building and management
• Organised and structured to deal with periods of heavy work load
• Project management

Other suitable backgrounds may also be engineer, economist, analyst or a salesperson for example from the financial or insurance industry. The most important thing is that you have a good experience of working in teams, and are driven to work toward goals together with your colleagues.

In previous positions, you have demonstrated a personal maturity, a good judgment and an ability to during certain periods handle a heavy workload. You are good at creating, building, developing and maintaining long-term relationships at all levels.
